Hello friends and happy Wednesday! Got the mid week blues? We can fix that! Here is a super tasty (and quick!) recipe for Crawfish Hush puppies that we think you’ll love. It’s got a touch of heat that is sure to spice up your week. We’ve included a video if you’d like to see how it’s done!
Tutorial Video for Crawfish Hushpuppies
Ingredients
1 cup yellow cornmeal
3/4 cup self-rising flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 tbsp Seasonest original
1/2 small onion, grated
1/4 cup chives, chopped
1/2 pound cooked crawfish, cleaned and tails removed, chopped
1 1/4 cup buttermilk
1 egg, beaten
1 medium jalapeño, chopped
Peanut oil, for frying
Preheat oil in a deep-fryer to 350 degrees F.
Mix all ingredients in a large bowl. Drop heaping tablespoon-sized amounts of the mixture into the hot oil. Fry in batches for 2 to 3 minutes each. Remove from the oil to paper towels to drain and season immediately with Seasonest Original, or Spicy for an added kick. Transfer to a serving platter or bowl and serve with a dip of your choosing.
When we made these at home, the first question was, “Is there enough to make more?” I think that’s a good sign right there! Enjoy!
