What Would Your 2015 Look Like… In a Snow Globe?

Snowglobe Blog Post Wed 12-30 (1)

We hold onto memories as the years go by and try to remember the things that are most important to us and to those whom we love. This year just flew by and we wanted to take a moment to reflect on what this year has meant to us and all that we have accomplished.

We saw where someone had mentioned what a year would look like in a snow globe and were inspired to try and encapsulate 12 whole months into symbols of our year and the memories it holds for us.

Here are our items:

  1. A miniature of a grocery store– This year, several new stores added our products to their lineup. We are so honored to be able to bring our products directly to our customers in-store.
  2. A calendar– Our business has grown to where we can support a more steady schedule and bring you daily updates; it’s been wonderful interacting with our customers on a daily basis!
  3. A pencil– Speaking of updates and schedules, we brought back our blog and have loved sharing a more intimate view of our family and our products.
  4. A Walmart logo– We learned a lot this year about business and got to meet Greg Foran, the President and CEO of Walmart U.S. It was a fantastic!
  5. State-shaped cutouts– Boy did we travel this year… we went to so many demos out-of-state in places like South Carolina and Tennessee. Traveling to meet new people and share our love of family, food and fun is always an amazing experience.
  6. A wooden spoon– We cooked, and cooked, and cooked… and then cooked some more! Creating recipes for you was so much fun and we learned a lot about what we are capable of and that Seasonest seasonings taste good on just about anything. Yum!
  7. A photograph- A photograph is a moment in time that stands still and holds special meaning for loved ones. Our photograph would have all of our family and friends, our customers and those that have been there for us during this crazy-wonderful adventure of starting and growing a family-owned business.

Thank you to each of you, our readers, for a wonderful year. We’re so grateful for you! Without you, we wouldn’t be here or be able to live out our dream.

God bless you and have a very happy new year!

We Interviewed Santa

Hello Everyone!

It’s nearly Christmas and I thought about what Santa might be doing right about now. And then the idea hit me; why not speak with Santa and ask him what he thinks about us and our products?. So, I reached out and he was really awesome about it! Here is our one-on-one interview with the white-bearded man himself.

Blog Interviewing Santa Wed 12-23

Courtney: Hi Santa! Thanks so much for taking time out of your busy schedule to sit with us. I know that certain time zones will soon be ready for you to visit, so we wont keep you too long! How are you doing?

Santa: Ho, Ho, hello there (He laughed a lot.)! It’s no trouble at all. I’m glad to be here and I’m quite well. Thank you for asking.

Courtney: Well, great! So glad to hear it. I wanted to get your opinions on our seasonings as I know you’ve had the chance to try them all. Mrs. Claus keeps ordering, so I was hoping you’d let us know what you both love about them.

Santa: Hm, that’s a great question. I’ve loved your seasonings since you left some out for me at Christmas so many years ago. When I brought them home, Mrs. Claus thought I had stopped and gotten her a gift! Let me tell you, that set the bar high each Christmas. It made the next year a bit challenging… but any who,  she’s always loved to cook and has really taken to these seasonings. We had just gotten into this all-natural kick, so your products came at just the right time.

Courtney: Wow! I had no idea. Mom didn’t tell me she left them out… Sorry, that may have been the first year we didn’t leave cookies!

Santa: Ho, ho, ho! No, not to worry! Like I said, we were on an all-natural kick, so cookies weren’t my top priority as they had been in previous years. I needed to shed a few cookie pounds to get down the chimney, so it was a welcome treat.

Courtney: (Whew. Definitely didn’t want to be on the naughty list!) It’s good to know that we were of such a benefit to your lifestyle. Tell me more about what keeps you both coming back to Seasonest for your seasonings?

Santa: Well, we really admire that you are a family business and that you carried on the dreams of one of your loved ones! We ourselves are a sort of family business, so we definitely understand the dedication and the hard work it takes to make something special as you have done. It adds a little something extra to your company and your seasonings.

Courtney: We’re really honored, Santa. Thank you for such kind words. Okay, I have to know… what is your FAVORITE blend that we make?

Santa: HO, HO, HO! You want me to choose?! That’s extremely challenging… I suppose I’m a fan of the Original Blend. It was the first one I received from you and it also holds so much meaning for your family. It also is the perfect amount of flavor for just about any dish and I really appreciate it’s versatility! Does that answer your question?

Courtney: Most definitely! The Original Blend is really special to us and we love that you love it, too. We hope you continue to be a supporter of our family-owned business!

Santa: Of course I will! Now, if you happen to come out with a blend that is sugary and great in cookies, I will admit my defeat on my every-New-Years’ resolution once again.

Courtney: Don’t worry, Santa. If that happens, you’ll be the first to know! Thanks so much for your time.

Santa: It was my pleasure. Thank you for the interview! And from Mrs. Claus and I, Merry Christmas to you and all of your customers!

So, there you have it folks. Santa is a seasoned vet in all things Christmas and now is working his way into becoming a Seasonest spices pro.

Hope you enjoyed the interview and that you’re excited for Christmas!

Happy Days,

Motivation Monday: Quick Christmastime Cooking Guide

Happy Motivation Monday!

Mon Christmastime Meal Blog 12-21

It’s super busy right around now for just about everyone. This time of year, the last thing I want to realize is that I don’t have enough food in the fridge, but, it happens when Christmas shopping and preparations are going on and we’re all going five different directions.

Does this ever happen to you? If it does, I’ve got some quick tips to help you out with mealtime fixes!

Tip 1) Check your stock.

Look in the pantry, on shelves and in your refrigerator for food items and ingredients. If you are like us, you’ll find that you have a lot more potential meal-making items than you suspected.

Tip 2) Gather the basics.

  • Meat/Protein
  • Carb/ Bread
  • Vegetable(s)
  • Dairy/Sauce/Cheese/Soup
  • Spices/Seasonings

Tip 3) Put it all together.

There are a lot of options you have if you are able to find at least two to three of the five categories listed above. But, seasoning it right is crucial to the flavor. Here are some examples!

  • Jerk Mild meaty pasta
  • Original Salt Free egg and vegetable stir fry (Add noodles for a heartier meal.)
  • Mild hearty meat, noodle and veggie soup
  • Spicy ham or turkey and cheese sandwich
  • Soul Food Mild soup and grilled cheese
  • Adobo quesadillas and sour cream
  • Original cheesy egg sandwich
  • Lemon pepper soup and salad
  • Italian-seasoned ham, ranch and cheese sandwich
  • Adobo huevos rancheros (Spicy, spicy eggs!)

What we’ve learned is to ALWAYS have our favorite seasonings stocked up. When you’re in a time crunch, and really, even when you’re not, seasonings can save a meal and make them truly amazing. If you’d like tips on how to make any of the above recipes, comment below!

Hope you’re having a great Christmas week. Thank you for all of your continued support of our family’s business.

Solving Your Christmas Gift Dilemmas

Hello and Happy Friday!

It’s almost Christmas. Yes, this beautiful holiday filled with love, joy and peace is literally a week away! However, we know that some of you may not be feeling the peace right now as you’re stressed about what to get everyone on your list! How about a Seasonest blend or two?

Seasonest Christmas Gift Blog

Here is how you can decide which ones to pick!

  • Are they traditional, classic and all-around fantastic? Original Blend

This is the blend where it all started and where our company gets it’s deliciously seasoned beginnings. It has the flavors of New Orleans, a little kick and a lot of potential.

  • Do they have a sense of self-confidence and a hint of sassy smarts? Spicy Blend

Spicy, spicy, spicy! This blend is full of cayenne and could be the best food challenge to any self-assured person.

  • Do they dream of world travel and the adventures they could have? Italian Blend

With hints of the Italian hills, this blend will take them to a land filled with a tradition of hearty dishes and family recipes.

  • Are they a bit timid when it comes to new things, but you’re convinced they’re exactly the ones who have a secret wild side? Lemon Pepper Blend

Seasoning with pepper is fairly normal, right? Adding in the lemon gives any dish an amazingly refreshing zest and could add the perfect amount of new for someone not usually so daring.

  • Are they friendly, hearty and full of cheer? Soul Food Mild Blend

This blend goes well with almost anything. It’s full of flavor, makes dishes deliciously savory and really makes everything feel a bit… homey.

  • Do they need a vacation… badly? Jerk Mild Blend

Take them to the islands for nearly free! The flavors in this blend are wonderfully Carribbean and will help them feel like they’re dining in a tropical paradise.

  • Is this person someone who appreciates a lively, active lifestyle that’s full of fun? Adobo Blend

If they like things kicked up a notch… if they like flavor… if they like Tex-Mex, South of the Border, Mexican, etc… This is the blend for them!

Check out our website for more information on all of these delicious blends.

We hope that this list helps you with your Christmas shopping. Feel free to comment below about your favorite blends and give advice to Seasonest shoppers who may be needing your help!

Happy shopping!

Motivation Monday: You CAN Cook!

Happy Motivation Monday! It’s Courtney for this Monday segment and I’ve noticed that a lot of people claim that “they can’t cook”; that’s quite silly, really… of course they can! It’s all about the right ingredients and following directions. I’ve made something I really think you’ll like and that is easy to create; Alfredo topped with crispy bacon! Also, it can be made gluten-free by substituting regular pasta with a gluten free version.

The Recipe: Alfredo with Crispy Bacon

  • Alfredo sauce
  • Bacon
  • Broccoli (chopped)
  • Minced garlic
  • Olive oil
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Penne pasta
  • Seasonest Italian seasoning
  • Seasonest Original seasoning
  • Spinach
  • Tomatoes (diced)

Total Prep/Cook Time: 25 min

Preheat oven to 400 degrees and place bacon on a baking sheet to bake for about 10 minutes, or until crispy.

In a pan on the stove, add a drizzle of olive oil and a teaspoon of minced garlic over medium heat and sauté for a few minutes.

Add in chopped broccoli, Alfredo sauce, pasta and spinach to the pan and sauté until the spinach is a little wilted.

Add in a dash of Seasonest Original and Italian seasonings into the pan and toss in diced tomatoes last.

Once the bacon is cool enough to handle, crunch it up into little pieces.

Scoop the pasta into a bowl and top with Parmesan cheese and bacon.

Christmas Music on #MotivationMonday

Happy #MotivationMonday Everyone!

Blog Title Christmas 2

It’s beginning to feel more and more like Christmas. It’s a time of hope, joy, peace, love… friends, family, food… all of the good things that bring us together and make the season so bright! We know that this can also be a hard time for some and that being in the Christmas spirit isn’t something that always comes easily to each of us.

Whether it’s worry about jobs, finances, family, health… whatever it may be, know that there’s always someone thinking of you somewhere and that each year gets a little brighter. Find the things that make you smile and laugh! We typically go for all things food-related and love sharing our recipes and stories with you.

We took some inspiration from Christmas songs to bring you some things that may just turn your Christmas season around!

  • Deck the Halls”

“Deck the halls with boughs of holly, Fa la la la la la la la!”

Get into the Christmas spirit by helping your home LOOK like Christmas; use everything from garlands to gingerbread houses. If you really want to get into it, you could put your home on a Christmas home tour! Blog Christmas Tree

* Singing while decorating typically makes your home look better.*

  • “It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas”

“There’s a tree in the Grand Hotel, one in the park as well…”

Head out to your nearest department store, town square or festive friend’s home and check out the spectacular sights. Sometimes a little (or big) tree and some blinking lights does a body some good.

  • “Sleigh Ride”

“There’s a happy feeling nothing in the world can buy,
When they pass around the coffee and the pumpkin pie.”

Blog CoffeeOkay, this one gives you a plethora of options; head to your nearest coffee shop and try all of the delicious seasonal beverages. Or, make sure you head to that friends’ house that can bake like nobody’s business; I’m sure they’d love to share the 15 batches of Christmas cookies they ambitiously over-estimated.

*Please note: It is not advised to try ALL the seasonal beverages in one day unless you already drink five or more cups of coffee daily. Even then, maybe spread it out over a few days…*

  • “Silent Night”

“Sleep in heavenly peace, Sleep in heavenly peace.”

This may have been a line originally intended for a very special baby, but make sure to heed this advice and get plenty of rest! This time of year can get people really run down and a good night’s rest (and perhaps a nap or two) can really keep some sickness (or unintended grumpiness) at bay.

  • “Silver Bells”Blog Bells 2

“Children laughing, people passing, meeting smile after smile…”

Smiles are contagious and they make you feel AMAZING. Try smiling a bit more and see where it takes you. :)

So, with all of this being said…

“Have yourself a merry little Christmas, Let your heart be light, From now on our troubles will be out of sight…” (“Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”)

We hope that any seasonal “scrooginess” or sadness quickly turns to cheerful, rested and joyful celebrating.

Do you have any Christmas time traditions that really make the season special? Let us know (In song, preferably! :D) in the comment section below!

Wishing you a Merry Christmas,

The Seasonest Family
